Petleshkov House
The Petleshkov house is the birth home of Vasil Angelov Petleshkov. Constructed in the 18 th century by his grandfather and restored in 1976.
It is in this home that Vasil Petleshkov was born on January 14, 1845 to the family of Ekaterina and Nayden Velchevi although his father died at an early age. His mother remarried Bratsigovo businessman Angel Petleshkov. In 1873 Petleshkov graduated from the Tsarigrad “hundred day” course for pharmacists. He returned to Bratsigovo and worked for the culture advancement of the inhabitants. He is responsible for the creation of the Trundafil School in 1874, of which he was the president.
On the eve of the uprising, lasting from April 14 to April 16, the members from the fourth revolutionary command, including Vasil Petleshkov, convened the historical event in the Oborishte region. Petleshkov was elected as the president of the committee which had to produce the war plan of the uprising in the region and the proclamation towards the nation.
His words “I am alone, there are no others. I led, I commanded, don’t search for the others” spoken between the flames of two fires, will live on forever in our history.
