Historical Museum
The historical collection of the town was first revealed on November 5 th, 1988 and is located in the building of the former elementary school. Later the collection was transferred to a separate location in the citizen council building and received the statute of historical museum. From 1956, after the opening of a home, the monument of the cultural historical museum is located in two of the rooms on the second floor in order to display a larger part of the collection.
The exhibition thematically spans the periods: Revival, modern and new history. The exhibit provides information about the origins of the surrounding towns and villages, the local means of living, and lives of the citizens. The central space takes the preparation, outbreak, and course of the April uprising in Bratsigovo revolution . The exhibitions contain many original, remaining artifacts from the battles of Apriltsi – pistols, yatagan swords, rifles and more. This space also contains the only remaining cherry canon in Bulgaria and the flag of the revelations, sewn by the teacher Ana Gizdova
The exhibit then displays items connected with revolutionary battles and the participation of the population in them. The exposition ends with materials from the successes in the development of Bratsigovo and the municipality today. Since 1988 the historical museum has held new and special concepts for the whole building, which is located in the museum’s central room and exhibits the collected and preserved heritage, characteristic of the way of life, occupations and the culture of the inhabitants of the past.
