 Saint Yoan Predtecha Church
One of the most emblematic buildings in Bratsigovo is the Saint Yoan Predtecha Church. The church was constructed in 1832 and 1833 by the Bratsigovo master Atanas Nase Gurneto.
The building represents one of the rarest examples of churches with two domes. For better acoustics the inner walls were built of stone from which the master of the church derived his name.
The layout of the church and inner windows were determined incredibly accurately. The inner architecture of the church speaks highly for its masters due to its creative form. The iconostasis of the church and the bishop’s throne were produced by masters of the Trevnen woodwork school.
A striking example of the masters of Bratsigovo constructors is the construction of the clock tower for the church in 1884-1886 by Ivan Dragov. The height of the clock tower is 28.61 meters and is divided into four floors with a proportion of 3/2/2/1. With the help of simple arithmetical relations, Drago constructed the architectural composition, whose individual parts are connected in harmonious unity. The clock tower is equipped with two bells and a clock.
